Hi Kcatonline,

You really know how to leave someone hanging (or should that be on hold). I'll be patient to read the rest of you story (do I have a choice). I like the way that you write. It is very engaging.

I caught a piece of MSN's story. The really sad part is that people just get bandaids rather than treatment. The focus is so much on money and treatment costs money, so they just address the symptom which is cheaper in the short run. However, by doing this, the underlying cause is never addressed which leads to continuous crisis which costs more in the long run.

I currently am in the middle of appeals process for both my psychiatrist and my psychotherapist for more than 20 visits per year. And, now that my medications are finally stable, my insurance for medication is denying approval of my anti-depressant. Okay, on top of my mental illness I have to fight this...which is in part what they count on that people will not fight it. God has really blessed my husband and I and has always financially supported us...someway there always is a means to get us through and for me to receive the treatment I need.

Anyway, I could go on about all sorts of things regarding insurance about me and others. The whole area really makes me angry.

I was just reading an article on Msn.com about how this era is a pill era, fewer shrinks doing talk therapy Study: Insurance pays psychiatrists lower rate for therapy than med visits.
At one point in my life, i went through what we called a Breakdown. I told my Dr. i felt i was falling apart. She said you can't be having a Nervous Breakdown... General Telephone won't let you.
I was working for GTE at the time, and was doing a lot of uprooting as they were doing a lot of downsizing in 1984-85, and if we wanted our job, we had to go where we could fit in. I was coming from one city to live and work in another.
I had been a Long Distance Operator, and was now going into the Business Office, which was different territory for me. 20 years with the Telephone Co. i didn't wish to lose my Seniority.
So, my Dr. was saying i wouldn't be able to afford to have a nervous condition, my work wouldn't let me take off the time that was needed to regain my mental health.
This Dr., Inelda Duraney, was from an island, i can't remember right now the name of it, but i will later. She sent me to a Hospital and had a psychiatrist come to see me. I at one time had a shot, called a hypo, and it was a fast way to calm me down. It was after i had almost been in a bad accident with my husband. The Dr. told me to go right to the Hospital, and that is what he ordered for me to have. But this was not her way of a fast fix. I will write more in a blog... stay tuned for the rest of the stor.
