To celebrate the 100th copy sold of my teen novel, I'd like to give a sneak preview to those who have not yet placed an order.
Out of the Shadows - Jenna's Secret
Chapter One
The floorboards rumbled under stampeding feet, the sound mingling with the shouts and cheers that echoed around the room.
‘Jenna, over here.’
At the sound of her name, Jenna glanced up, estimating the distance between her and the goal posts—two green garbage bins with pizza boxes sticking out the top. Around her,…

I am writing to condemn your new doll with pro-islamic messages. How dare you use your toys to try and brainwash innocent children. I have already been informed that your company has no intention of recalling this deceptive toy. My wife and I are Grandparents of 4 wonderful children, six years old and younger, and I will no longer purchase any of your toys especially during Christmas and will spread the word to as many people and groups as possible to make sure I do my part to not just send a me…

In Christ we can move out of our past into a meaningful present and a breathtaking future.
Erwin W. Lutzer
This morning, as I am sitting in my recliner, watching some Godly ministers preach on TV, I am reminded of times past.
Our journeys in life have pulled friends apart, and brought friends together. When we stop to think about it, those we actually take time to really know, have touched our hearts in some way.
Luke 2:41-50 Now his parents went to Jerusalem every year at the feast of the pa…

Because my spirit is gradually lifting today, and I like to be silly once in a while, I'm posting a mini-challenge entry today from October 11, 2006. Patrick Oden (aka Paddy-O) challenged us to finish a story that started with this sentence:
"Paddy stood outside in the wet, stormy weather waiting for the little train which would take him deep into the Bisbee copper mine."
Following is my goofy entry. I remember laughing out loud as the scene played in my head.
Oh, and…

I was finally involved in my first mission trip!
Begin a missionary is my (defunct) childhood dream. It is the first thing I specifically remember wanting to be “when I grow up”. What an easy, rewarding, job! How could people NOT believe when they heard the Good News about Jesus? THAT job would make me happy!

I was determined today to sit down and have a nice quiet time. I got to stay home again today, and will be out and about and busy the rest of the week. So I was looking forward to a good quiet time today.
So I sat down, after I had gotten a few chores done, and had exercised. I had my Bible, my notebook, and even the devotional Bible study book I've been working through.
And I just didn't know what to do.
Duh, you might say. Yah, it was kind of a DUH moment.
I could have opened my Bible and…

What have you done for Christ?
What difference have you made
Because of your gratitude
For the terrible price He paid?
Have you thought of the wonderful love
Jesus has for you and me,
So great that He was willing
To die so we could be free?
What can you do for Christ?
The best thing to do is start
To accept this free gift of love
And welcome Him into your heart.
Then you become Christ’s hands,
To help those in need you meet,
To walk in the path where God leads
As you also become Jesus’ feet.
W…

I am sore, my fingers from the banjo, my body from exercise. Son and dnl from Wilmington are coming up; we will go to the street fair in the village, and generally take it easy. Saturday night we will do a little pick'n and singing. Sunday after church we will have lunch and wave good bye. Hopefully, this will be a restful weekend.
Well, if you haven't read my economic recovery plan, you probably should (selfish promotion). I hope folks copy it and send it to their congressperson.
Oops, puppy…

Shattering glass in the kitchen jerked Lauren's head up.
“What just broke?” she called, doing a mental inventory of what had been on the counters. The sudden silence guaranteed heartache. “Do I want to know?”
“Um, I don't think so, Mom,” came the quavery reply.
Lauren's eyes clenched shut. The reigning silence easily carried her voice, “My china mug?”
“Ah, yeah.”
Looking up at the ceiling Lauren groaned.
Lord, that was my favorite gift from Mom...
Taking a deep breath she stepped…

I try so hard to keep track of it all.
The wife role.
The mom thing,
The writing gig.
The prayer calling.
The encouraging others passion.
I came here and realized I had 92 messages! Yikes, that is not balancing things very well.
So I'm trying to play catch up while working on other things that need my attention.
Can anyone say Calgon?
In the yay department, today my column on Marriage: Striving for Oneness debuts at

Met with my nutritionist last night, now I have a diet outline. Lots of fiber. I can deal with that - bran flakes, oatmeal, oatmeal cookies, baked potatoes, broccoli, popcorn, whole wheat bread, lettuce and tomato. Too many years of eating poorly has wrecked my body. While I will never again be the 118 pound teenager, I do hope to get down to 170 or below. Doc wants me at 185 by next October. Currently I am destroying the scales at 226 - down ten pounds from when I started.
Well, I can have tea…

God heals. I know. He’s healed me from cancer, removed tumors, and kept me alive when doctor’s said I wouldn’t survive. And yet, I still wait for healing from Lyme disease.
I’m not alone. For those of us waiting for healing, Lisa Bevill wrote this song…
When the Healing Comes
By Lisa Bevill
I’m here before you Jesus on bended knee
Praying for an answer, that’s my plea.
Oh I’ve been crying for a healing that hasn’t come.
So I’ll just keep waiting for that day.
Oh… you’re so mysterious … that’s…

Recently the Lord has been giving me a burden for those who are lost and feel they have to clean up before God will take them. This poem was inspired as a result. I see it as a bridge to reach those who feel that God won't accept them. I guess in my ackward way I'm trying to say that I see this poem as a way to say.... "It's okay, cause I have been where you are and that is where I met Jesus!"
I pray you are blessed by reading it. Or maybe you know someone who would be blessed by it.
hugs,

A Bold Dichotomy
Blemished by men who abused her
Oppressed by the enemy’s voice
Livid with rage and hounded by shame
Drusilla seduced men by choice
Brazen, she flaunted her figure
Obsessed with her cheap little tricks
Levied fierce wounds on her victims
Duping the simple for kicks
Beguiled, the naïve were attracted
Oblivious to her disease
Laughing, she led them to Hades
Defiling their honor with ease

Dad is home from his hospital "vacation" and hanging in there. He has been VERY grumpy these days, according to my sister, who lives with him and carries the heavy responsibility of caring for his daily needs. I've talked with him about three times since I returned home from Texas. Kim (sister) said he is obsessed with what he can and cannot eat on the renal diet; that he is facing the reality of his own mortality, so he is going through all his papers and shredding old stuff... He is apparently…

"I am telling you now before it happens, so that when it does happen- you will believe that I am He.
John 13:19
Beautiful One, Do you know when God happens?
I often think about how wonderful it must have been for the early disciples to have witnessed with their very eyes the Son of God in their lives; to have walked and talked with Christ- to have been able to touch and feel him, to be considered one of his elite, the chosen twelve, to have been considered his friend-a close comp…

An hour of banjo practice and my fingers are sore...again. I really have to get toughened up. Good workout today, lite lunch - chicken strips on a slice of wheat bread. Lots of iced tea. I have to go to a diet meeting this evening - run by the hospital folks. Puppy just begged to sit on my lap, so I guess it is puppy time, she is licking my fingers.
