About Me:
Randall Michael Mooney is a fifty-three year old father of six and grandfather of ten. He was born in Jackson, Mississippi; raised in Panama City, Florida; and has lived and worked in Columbus, Mississippi - Beaumont, Texas - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – and returned and has resided in Jackson, Mississippi since July of 1987. With his wife Deidre, his four sons and two daughters; relocating to Jackson was the result of a prayerful decision to move to a town where they could start a business, a ministry, and allow their children to grow and finish their school years in one school district.

Mr. Mooney began writing in the seventh grade after taking a creative writing course. He is also a musician, skilled in playing seven different instruments, and has toured and played with a contemporary Christian band in the 1970’s and the 1980’s. He has written over three hundred songs, appeared at concerts and festivals from Mississippi to Texas and across Delaware, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey. In 1980 he performed in and wrote the music for a documentary film.

In addition to song writing he has written hundreds of poems, and many articles for church and business newsletters. After moving his family back to Mississippi in 1987, he placed music on the back burner and began developing his writing skills and is currently working to develop a writing career. With many manuscripts in progress on a wide variety of topics he is presently working to get his first book, The Seed and the Sower, published and is now offering The Blogs of a Righteous Dude for publication. Other works to soon be available are, Who Am I (the memoir and personal testimony of a teen drug addict and run-away from home), The Phone Call (the story of a Christian family dealing with the suicide death of their son), The Gift (an inspirational fiction about God’s gift to man), and The Heir (a novel about a man inheriting the Bible on diskette in a future society where religion and the Bible is considered outlawed contraband, and his private search for God in a Godless world).

Since his ordination into the ministry in 1974, Rev. Mooney has ministered throughout the Southeastern and Northeastern United States as a featured speaker for churches, Full Gospel Businessmen’s Fellowships, conferences, and conventions of many different denominations. He has also ministered in Belize, Mexico, Columbia and Israel. Upon his return to Mississippi in 1987, he and his wife, Deidre, started a construction company called DeRanz Building Systems, Inc., and started a ministry in downtown Jackson, Mississippi, in one of the worst drug infested areas of the city called, The Rock House. Through their ministry and their construction company they have worked hard to make a difference in the “buckle of the Bible belt.” They were also two of the original seventeen people that formed and established a ministry known as “Mission Mississippi” in Jackson. Along with author of The Man in the Mirror, Pat Morley and the now departed Thomas Skinner; this committee of seventeen began a movement which continues across the country promoting racial reconciliation among Christians and the world.

Mr. Mooney, in addition to turning his attention to writing professionally, is also working to expand his business interests and has started several other companies in Mississippi. In addition to his construction company he started an internet marketing company called, Creatergy, a graphics division called DeRanz Media and Graphics, a production company called Crossover Publications, and a digital music recording studio called Night Song Music. Other interests and future business plans are to launch a restaurant chain called, Pizza Parade. This Apostle of business and ministry loves God, loves being creative and is determined to use all the gifts God has given him through Christ to the best of his ability.

Please Pray!!!

Dear Friends, I need a miracle. My truck was stolen yesterday at lunch from a restaurant parking lot. This is a first for me and it has been very upsetting. I have had plenty of trucks...I'll get another one. However, my laptop was in that truck and it has all my financials for personal and business; all my accounts and passwords; all my pictures and files... and ALL MY WRITING. I have a back up that is two weeks old but my latest book and book proposal was on there and I don't have a backup of… Continue

Bye-bye, Blue Blue

We said goodbye for the last time tonight to a very special friend that we only had the privilege of knowing for a little over three years. We knew the inevitable had finally arrived because he could barely move for the last couple of weeks. It was always hard to tell how much pain he was in because he never complained. He always greeted us when we came home, and wherever we were in the house, he was there beside us. He always loved to sit or lay close to our feet. If we moved to another room, h… Continue

A Soldier's Prayer

Thank you Blessed One for reminding us that Memorial Day is not the beginning of summer. It is a reminder to us of those who served and are still serving. I don't care what anyone's opinion of the Iraq situation is, as much as I care that our children are still there. That's the most important thing for us to remember on this Memorial Day. We can argue about why we're there, how long we've been there, and when we should come home, all we want. I would like to remind all of us that there's more… Continue

Religion vs. Passion

Religion robs us of the passion that is acquired from the central point of our spiritual existence. When the passion is removed all we are left with is the religion. Religion in this form is only distinguishable from other religions by its differing rituals. Rituals provide a certain degree of comfort and purpose to the human mind. However, it offers no fire and passion to our heart and soul. Without this heart and passion, we soon become very bored with our religious exercises and drift from th… Continue

Tagged Heros!

Okay Susan, here goes. I came across this verse in the New Living Translation a couple of days ago and thought, "That's a great verse." Psalms 16:3 "The Godly people in the land are my true heroes! I take pleasure in them!" I have so many friends in the Kingdom of God. Many of you are not new to the Kingdom but, you are new to me. However, I place as much value on our new relationships as I do on my existing relationships. Those of you that this scripture descibes are my heroes! I look forward… Continue
